Irregular Verb Horror? Lets Fix That
Irregular Verbs Starting with Letter A
IRREGULAR VERBS

After a long, sunny summer, it’s time to get back into the rhythm — but gently! (Did you join me on YouTube yesterday?) This time at Birdhouse English, we’re going “back to basics” in the most comforting way possible: learning irregular verbs in English that start with the letter A. Do you dread learning them? Ha, ha, it shouldn't be that tricky!
If you’ve ever felt like irregular verbs are the messy wardrobe of English grammar — you open the doors and think, “Oh no, where do I start?” — don’t panic. I'm breaking it down into short, manageable steps so you can make real progress without feeling overwhelmed. We’ll go step-by-step, so nothing gets lost in the pile!
4 Simple Grammar Wins Today
1️⃣ ✏️ Grab a pen or pencil and join me — just 3 verbs are all you need to practise all three forms: infinitive, past simple, and past participle, using one of my irregular verbs videos!
2️⃣ 🗣 Say the verb forms out loud three times, paying attention to pronunciation — you can follow along with me step-by-step in the video.
3️⃣ 📝 Write your own sentence with the verb and post it in the YouTube comments — I’ll check it for you!
4️⃣ ⏳ Before bed, review or replay my video — it really helps the verbs stick. You’ll be surprised how much you remember with just a quick daily review.
Just a quick note — since this video comes from my bilingual channel, you’ll see some Greek translations 🇬🇷 to help my Greek learners. But don’t worry — if you’re an international viewer, you can totally skip over those or just enjoy the beautiful sound of the Greek language while you learn!
Restock Your Grammar Shelf
Now’s a great time to restock your English “toolkit” just like we check our supplies at home:
📝 Keep a small notebook just for irregular verbs.
📚 Write them in groups (by letter) so you can find them easily.
🎧 Listen to the video again while you’re walking, drawing, doing chores, or running errands — you name it! Repetition really helps.
If you tend to procrastinate (like I used to), set a timer for 5 or 10 minutes and see how much you can learn in that time. You’ll surprise yourself! Let’s make things a little easier, one set of irregular verbs at a time. Let me know in a comment ONE irregular verb with A you can start using today. Wings up — let’s fly!
And don't forget to take time for YOU — sip your favourite beverage, enjoy a short walk, grab a bite of summer fruit (I did that — eating figs), or read your favourite book. Learning works best when you feel good!
